Vocabulary Builder for self-motivated learners
Flex helps you learn more vocabulary, more efficiently.
It's based on a simple assumption that in order to learn new words you need: a dictionary, relevant usage examples (context), a way to review the vocabulary daily, and a little bit of discipline.
While flex can't help you with the discipline part, everything else is covered.
Type in any word or expression and see the definition from the built-in WordNet dictionary. Each time you look up a new word, it's automatically added to your vocabulary list.
Examples from classic literature
Dictionary definition is usually not enough. In order to remember a word faster, you need real-world examples and context. Database of hundreds of public domain books gives you the best examples from the greatest writers of all time.
Clippings (your own examples)
Save snippets of text from books, online articles etc. that will serve as your own database of examples.
Import your Kindle Highlights
The book fragments you highlight on your Kindle can serve as examples for your vocabulary. Upload your highlights to flex and use them to accelerate your learning.
Daily email with random vocabulary to review
If you simply write down a word, you'll likely forget it 5 minutes later. Flex helps you retain more vocabulary by sending you a list of words to review. The rest is up to you.
Flex costs 💵 $12/year (only $1/month). You can try the site for free, for 7 days and if you like it, you can pay to upgrade.
It's NOT a recurring payment. Your payment information is not stored, so there will be no automatic, surprise renewals 💸. When your account expires after a year, you'll have to manually renew it.
